First click on the
Start button, go to Control
Panel, and select Network Connections.
Click on Create a new connection
under Network Tasks. This will begin the Wizard.
Click Next at the Welcome
to the New Connection Wizard screen.
Choose Connect to the Internet
at the Network Connection Type screen and click Next.
Choose Set up my connection manually
at the Getting Ready screen and click Next.
Choose Connect using a dial-up modem
at the Internet Connection screen and click Next.
At the Connection Name screen enter
Empire Access for the ISP Name and click Next.
At the Phone Number to Dial screen enter the phone number for Empire
Access XXX9000 and click Next.
The “XXX” in the Phone number text box is for your exchange
(ex. 522, 868 ,…).
You will then be prompted for your User
name and Password. User
name is the user ID that you picked when you established your account
with Empire Access. Both of these fields are case sensitive.
You will also want to be careful not to put an extra space before
or after either of them because it will be considered part of the
field by Empire Access’s servers and will cause your connection
to fail. Check all three of
the boxes on this screen after you confirm your password and click
Next.
The setup of your Internet connection is almost complete. Just
check the Add a shortcut to this connection
to my desktop and click Finish.
Now the wizard is complete and there is an option to Dial immediately.
Just verify that your username, password, and phone number are correct
and then click Dial. For future
Internet connections there will be a shortcut on your desktop named
Empire Access. Use this shortcut to open a connection and then open
your default browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape…) or email
client (Outlook Express, Netscape…).
